X-Rays Come Back Clean For Andrew Vaughn, Chicago White Sox 1B Now Day-to-Day
USA TODAY Sports

Chicago White Sox first baseman Andrew Vaughn had an X-ray on his left foot Thursday, but the results were negative, according to the Chicago Sun Times' Daryl Van Schouwen.

Vaughn has been out since Tuesday's 11-10 loss to the New York Mets, during which he fouled a pitch off of his left foot. Vaughn was diagnosed with a bruise, and he has been labeled as day-to-day, per Van Schouwen.

Manager Pedro Grifol said he did not expect bad news to come from the X-ray when he spoke to reporters earlier Thursday.

“We’re not anticipating anything wrong, but he was pretty sore,” Grifol said.

Vaughn was hitting .244 with 12 home runs, 54 RBI and a .738 OPS before he went down with his foot injury.

Over his last 18 games, Vaughn does not have a single home run. Vaughn did not hit his first home of the season run until his 18th appearance. In the interim, Vaughn hit 12 home runs in 59 games, which was good for a pace of 33 homers per 162 games.

The No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft hit 15 home runs as a rookie in 2021, then 17 in his second season in 2022. Through 355 career games, Vaughn is a .252 hitter with 44 homers, 178 RBI, 73 doubles, 100 walks, 275 strikeouts and a .732 OPS.

Chicago is currently 41-57, which puts them 9.5 games back of first place in the AL Central and 13.0 games back of the third AL Wild Card spot.

MLB Network insider Jon Heyman went on 670 The Score's Mully And Haugh on July 10, and he said the White Sox are willing to trade almost anybody on the roster ahead of the upcoming trade deadline, outside of four players – center fielder Luis Robert Jr., outfielder Eloy Jimenez, starting pitcher Dylan Cease and Vaughn.

The White Sox will continue their nine-game road trip Friday, heading up to Minnesota to take on the Twins. Game one of that three-game series is scheduled to start at 8:10 p.m. ET.

Vaughn's status for the series has yet to be determined.
