Yadier Molina to wear special helmet commemorating record-breaking start with Adam Wainwright

On Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals' battery mates Yadier Molina, and Adam Wainwright will make MLB history.

The pair will make their 325th career start together, breaking a record previously held by Bill Freehan and Mickey Lolich for the Detroit Tigers set in 1975.

When Molina kneels behind the plate for the historic start, he will wear a special helmet to commemorate the event. The helmet features both Molina and Wainwright on the top with "325" in bold behind them. And on the sides, the duo's numbers sit behind the iconic Cardinal logo.

While their names will always be synonymous with the Cardinals, their careers are also tightly linked. Wainwright has pitched in over 2,500 innings during his 17-year career. And in over 83% of those innings, Molina was the man behind the plate.

Over nearly two decades together, Wainwright and Molina have helped bring two World Series titles to St. Louis while earning a combined 13 All-Star appearances and 11 gold gloves.

This season, the 41-year-old Wainwright is 10-9 with a 3.33 ERA in 28 starts.

Meanwhile, Molina is winding down his 19th MLB season, all with the Cardinals. The 40-year-old is batting .218/.241/.303 with four home runs and 19 RBI in 68 games.
