The New York Yankees lost one of their key players in their recent game against the Texas Rangers, and he could be out for some time. Jasson Dominguez was carted off the field after running into the fence of the outfield wall in the first inning. Aaron Boone recently shared an update on Dominguez’s status.

“Jasson Domínguez has a low-grade left AC sprain in his left shoulder that will require an IL stint. Aaron Boone said it will be ‘a few weeks.’ Concussion tests are negative so far,” Bryan Hoch of MLB.com wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

It’s uncertain how much time Dominguez will be on IL, but the hope is that it’s not too long. Dominguez had already dealt with an injury a couple of days ago with his elbow, but he was fine to keep playing. A ball hit his elbow against the Rangers, and though his arm went numb, he said all was well.

“It got me right in the elbow,” Domínguez said, via MLB.com. “As of right now, I don’t feel any concern. … Right when it hit me, my arm went numb a little bit, but [since] it’s just been swelling. This is baseball. It is what it is.”

This shoulder issue is an entirely different issue, so it’s going to take him some time to recover from that.

Dominguez is hitting .200/.250/.367 with a home run this season, and though his numbers aren’t something that jump off the stat sheet, he still has a lot of potential.
