The New York Yankees are looking to win the American League East division. They should be able to earn an AL Wild Card spot at the very least, but winning the division remains the goal. However, they are currently competing without a number of players because of injuries. Starting pitcher Carlos Rodon and outfielder Cody Bellinger are among the injured Yankees at the moment.
Bellinger is recovering from a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, Rodon is working his way back from an elbow injury. Brendan Kuty of The Athletic shared the latest updates on Bellinger and Rodon’s injury recoveries on Friday.
According to Kuty, Bellinger took batting practice while Rodon threw on flat ground ahead of Friday’s game against the Atlanta Braves at Yankee Stadium.
Bellinger, 31, earned the third All-Star selection of his career this season. He has hit .259/.350/.420 across 102 games played. Bellinger has 11 home runs, 21 doubles, three triples and 10 stolen bases as well.
Rodon, a 33-year-old pitcher, has recorded a 3.30 ERA across nine outings in 2026. He also has 52 strikeouts in 46.1 innings on the mound.
Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton are among the other injured Yankees at the moment. New York is still playing competitive baseball, but the team is 4.5 games behind the first place Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East. The Yankees are in second place while the surging Boston Red Sox are only a half-game behind New York in the division.
If the Yankees want to win the AL East, they will need their stars to return sooner rather than later.
