Yankees' DJ LeMahieu reportedly dealing with foot fracture

According to New York Post columnist Joel Sherman, Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu is dealing with a fracture in his right foot that gives him a "difficult road to play again" this season.

LeMahieu missed much of the final month of the regular season with what was described as a toe injury, and the three-time All-Star was left off the Yankees' ALDS roster despite returning for the final week of the season.

Sherman's report gives us a closer look at what LeMahieu is dealing with. He says the pain "resonates into the toes, making it difficult to pivot, among other things."

LeMahieu attempted to play through the injury for much of the second half but struggled at the plate and didn't hit a home run over his final 26 games.

Despite LeMahieu's exclusion from the roster, rookie infielder Oswald Peraza didn't make the cut. Instead, veteran Marwin Gonzalez, who has plenty of postseason experience from his time in Houston, earned a spot along with rookie Oswaldo Cabrera. Gonzalez is able to play a handful of positions and helps make up for LeMahieu's lost versatility.

Sherman notes LeMahieu hasn't been ruled out beyond the ALDS, despite the injury making a return unlikely.
