The American and National League both have representatives among the top two most valuable Major League Baseball franchises, according to Forbes.
The New York Yankees clock in at the No. 1 spot with a $5 billion valuation, which is up nine percent from 2019. Who else but the Los Angeles Dodgers to rank second with a $3.4 billion valuation?
It's not surprising the Yankees are valued as the top team in MLB, especially when they've made the playoffs seven times in the last decade. Despite not winning a World Series title since 2009, New York attracts fans every year as America's team in the Big Apple.
With the likes of Gerrit Cole, Aaron Judge, D.J. LeMahieu, Giancarlo Stanton and many more, the Yankees are primed to make a solid run in the postseason ... if the 2020 MLB season ever begins.
It's also not shocking that the Dodgers clock in at No. 2, especially considering they've been to the World Series twice in the last three years. They actually probably would have won the 2017 WS if the Houston Astros didn't cheat to win the title, but we won't get into that.
Much like the Yankees, the Dodgers are absolutely loaded with talent. They acquired Mookie Betts and David Price in a trade with the Boston Red Sox, and they already had the likes of Cody Bellinger, Clayton Kershaw, Gavin Lux, Joc Pederson, Dustin May and many more.
If the 2020 season is able to be played, don't be surprised if we see a Yankees-Dodgers World Series ... wouldn't that be something?
The Red Sox clocked in at No. 3 with a $3.3 billion valuation, and the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants came in fourth with a $3.1 billion valuation.
