Yankees expecting bad news on Chad Green and Luis Gil?

The New York Yankees had their Friday home game against the Chicago White Sox rained out but nevertheless may be taking a couple of big losses into the weekend.

Yankees right-handed reliever Chad Green was pulled from Thursday's appearance at the Baltimore Orioles with what was initially called "right forearm discomfort," and manager Aaron Boone admitted on Friday there's "fear" that Green is dealing with a long-term issue.

"It’s definitely a concern right now, but I’d rather him get with the doctors and kind of see where we’re at. … We’re still waiting on him to confer with [Yankees team doctor Christopher] Ahmad and get all the opinions," Boone explained, according to Randy Miller of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com. "So we’ll see what we have."

Following Thursday's action, Green held a 1-1 record with a 3.00 ERA across 14 appearances and 15 innings of work this season.

Meanwhile, fellow pitcher Luis Gil, ranked the club's ninth-best prospect by MLB Pipeline, prematurely exited his Triple-A start on Wednesday with elbow discomfort. Boone didn't sound too optimistic when speaking about the 23-year-old.

"It’s a significant injury, but they’re still kind of working through opinions," Boone said of Gil. "I don’t want to get too far into it, but it’s significant."

Gil's only big-league appearance this spring was against the White Sox on May 12. He allowed four runs over four innings.
