According to Stats Perform, Dominguez is the first player in MLB history to hit three home runs in a game, homer from both sides of the plate in a game, hit a grand slam, and hit a walk-off home run, all in the same month.
On May 9, the young switch-hitter was 3-for-4 with three home runs and seven RBI in a 10-2 win over the Athletics.
Hitting from the left-side of the plate, Dominguez's first home run that day came off Athletics starter Osvaldo Bido in the third inning. Then, from the right-side of the plate, he clubbed a grand slam off reliever Hogan Harris in the seventh frame. He added his third home run in the ninth off right-handed reliever Elvis Alvarado.
Wednesday's heroic blast off Rangers reliever Luke Jackson landed in the second deck of Yankee Stadium's right field seats, traveling 398 feet. It was also the first walk-off home run by a Yankees player since Sept. 20, 2022, when Giancarlo Stanton slugged a game-ending grand slam off then-Pirates reliever Aroldis Chapman.
Dominguez, nicknamed 'The Martian,' has been on a tear this month, slashing .267/.382/.578 with four home runs and 10 RBI in 45 at-bats. On the season, he's hitting .241 with six round-trippers and 22 RBI.
Dominguez is starting in left field and batting fifth for the Yankees as they look to sweep the Rangers Thursday afternoon.
