On Thursday afternoon, the New York Yankees hit the field at home for their series finale against the Texas Rangers. The teams entered this game having split the first two games of the series earlier this week.

Unfortunately, in the first inning of the game, a scary scene unfolded at Yankee Stadium when New York outfielder Jasson Domínguez went down with an injury.

Jasson Dominguez just made an awesome catch leaping back into the wall but then immediately went face down and hasn’t gotten up. Appears to be moving, but a cart is out. Boone and the trainers ran out with urgency,” reported Chelsea Janes of SNY on X, formerly Twitter.

Janes later reported a more positive update on Dominguez’s condition.

“Got up on his knees and moving, trainers testing shoulders and neck. Now walking onto the cart under his own power. A measure of relief in a concerning situation,” she reported.

Later, it was revealed that Dominguez is in concussion protocol and undergoing an MRI on his left shoulder, per Meredith Marakovits of YES Network.

It was certainly a scary sight for Dominguez, the 23 year-old outfielder who has already dealt with an injury concern this season and is one of the key younger players on this Yankees roster.

Dominguez made his MLB debut with the Yankees after signing with their minor league system back in 2019, and has shown immense promise thus far in his career.

The Yankees and their fans will certainly hope that this injury is not anything serious, and the fact that he was able to get up and walk was a promising sign.

The Yankees will next hit the field on Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers.
