New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. made an off-field announcement this week, with the club set to begin a series against the Minnesota Twins on Friday.

The 28-year-old from Nassau, Bahamas, has settled in the Bronx since joining the Yankees in a 2024 trade with the Miami Marlins. Chisholm is batting .225 with 12 home runs, 33 RBIs and 26 stolen bases in 82 games this season.

The second baseman entered the season wanting to match Shohei Ohtani’s 50-50 campaign from last year; however, he's on pace to fall short of that mark. The Yankees enter Friday in second place in the American League East, sliding behind the division-leading Tampa Bay Rays

The latest news from Chisholm came from the field, as he announced a new partnership between the Jazz Chisholm Foundation and the Yankees on Instagram, featuring a fundraiser for the foundation on August 5.

Fans who buy tickets through a link on the foundation's Instagram bio will receive a Jazz Chisholm Foundation hat, and $13 of every ticket sold will go directly to the foundation. The event supports what the foundation calls its mission of "empowering the youth through sports and education."

Chisholm founded the Jazz Chisholm Foundation to give back to the communities that supported him as he rose through the ranks throughout his life. The foundation focuses on giving back to the underserved youth and their families in the Bahamas, New York and Miami.

The Aug. 5 event adds another chapter to Chisholm’s community work as the Yankees look to close the gap at the top of the AL East.
