Alex Rodriguez rolled up to the Chase Center parking lot like any other fan—except his Uber driver happened to be Barry Bonds. A‑Rod, part-owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves, posted the moment on Instagram before Saturday’s Game 3 of the Minnesota Timberwolves– Golden State Warriors playoff series.
“I’m back here in the Bay Area,” A‑Rod said, grinning at the camera in a post to his Instagram. “And of course, I gotta call my favorite Uber driver. I gave him five stars last time. Here he is, Mr. Barry Bonds. What up, Barry?"
Bonds did not look amused as Rodriguez turned the camera to the former San Francisco Giants slugger in the driver's seat.
A‑Rod laughed, then launched into his pitch. “Barry had a great career. He hit about seven hundred and twenty… seven hundred and twenty home runs, eight All‑Star Games…” He paused, looking at Bonds.
Bonds interrupted and said, “You gotta understand something, there’s something wrong with this boy.”
On the video captured by Fireside Yankees, A-Rod laughed and went on.
“Five stars for Mr. Barry Bonds every time I come to San Francisco. You gotta call Barry. Amazing Uber. Five stars.”
The two baseball legends sat together at the game, which A-Rod’s Timberwolves won 102-97.
The connection makes sense. They were both once the most feared hitters of the era. Both, however, are on the outside of the Baseball Hall of Fame, where their stats say they belong, looking in. Their legacies have both been tarnished by suspicion of PED use.
Now Bonds, the controversial all‑time home run king, plays chauffeur to one of baseball’s most famous faces. It was a five-star social media moment.
