Yankees promoting highly touted outfield prospect

After signing with the New York Yankees in 2020 as an international free agent – including a franchise record  $5.1M signing bonus – outfielder Jasson Dominguez will be making his long-awaited MLB debut on Friday against the Houston Astros.

The 20-year-old has posted a .265/.377/.425 slash line with 15 home runs, 76 RBI and 40 stolen bases in 118 games across Double-A and Triple-A.

Often referred to as "The Martian," the switch-hitting Dominguez is a five-tool player who has a blend of power and speed that should see him put up 20-20 seasons for years to come. Possessing the ability to handle centerfield with ease, he also has a strong arm that runners choose not to test as he captains the outfield.

Sculpted like a bodybuilder, he is 190 pounds of pure muscle and with a dedicated workout routine the Yankees had to ask to tone things down a bit after he began getting too bulky

Sure to be a fan favorite once he debuts, Dominguez comes from humble beginnings and is not afraid to be himself.

After signing his deal with the Yankees, he bought himself his first car which he referred to as "My Bugatti." But when he took his agent, Gio Rodriguez, to see his purchase they both burst out in laughter, Sitting in front of them was no Bugatti instead it was a Honda Accord.

"I'm not sure it was even new," Rodriguez said to MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez

Adding that Dominguez is not buying into the hype and that "[h]is goal is to prove to the Yankees that they signed the right kid and earn everything he gets."

With the Yankees playoff hopes virtually nonexistent, Dominguez should be able to see plenty of playing time as he looks to secure a starting spot on the 2024 Opening Day roster.
