For the past few hours, the New York Yankees have been anxiously waiting for MRI results on Aaron Judge's injury.
Earlier this week, Judge suffered an elbow injury against the Toronto Blue Jays. He was wincing in pain after throwing the ball into the infield. At the time, the Yankees thought it was a minor injury. However, it was serious enough to keep him out of the lineup Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies.
"Obviously, you guys asked about it in Toronto, but he felt like it was fine on the off day," Boone told reporters. "Then, (Friday) night, he couldn’t really throw from the outfield, so he came in today and got imaging on that. Obviously it’s a concern, but we’ll wait and see."
After the Yankees suffered a 9-4 loss to the Phillies, manager Aaron Boone provided an update on Judge's injury.
Boone revealed that Judge is dealing with a flexor strain. His MRI results didn't show any damage to his UCL, which is good news. That being said, the two-time MVP will go on the injured list.
Judge has been excellent this season for the Yankees, batting .342 with 37 home runs and 85 RBI. It's impossible to replace that type of production.
Hopefully for the Yankees, this won't be a lengthy absence for Judge. If he's unable to come back soon, they might slip out of the AL East race.
The Yankees will lean heavily on Giancarlo Stanton and Cody Bellinger while Judge is on the IL, that's for sure.
