After losing Juan Soto in free agency to the New York Mets, the New York Yankees acquired slugger Cody Bellinger. So far, he's been an absolute difference-maker in the Bronx.

Despite a slow start to the season, Bellinger has come alive for the Yankees. He's currently hitting .258 with eight homers and 32 RBI. The former MVP has really hit his stride in May, owning a .318 batting average this month.

The Yankees didn't just add Bellinger to their roster last offseason, they also picked up Max Fried, Paul Goldschmidt and Devin Williams.

As for Soto, he has really struggled on the Mets. His batting average dropped to .224 after going hitless in his last 10 at-bats.

Bellinger's father, former Yankees outfielder Clay Bellinger, spoke to TMZ Sports about his son's 2025 season. During this conversation, the two-time World Series champion also offered his thoughts on Soto

Bellinger's father ultimately believes the Yankees made the right move letting Soto leave for Queens.

"You're getting three or four guys instead of one," Clay Bellinger told TMZ. "It ended up being a no-brainer. For me, anyway."

Soto has made plenty of headlines this season because of his "lack of hustle" on the Mets. That has led to speculation about whether or not he regrets signing a 15-year deal.

According to Bob Nightengale, the All-Star slugger's free agency decision was influenced by his family members.

"The New York Yankees are convinced that Juan Soto was ready to re-sign with them on Dec. 11," Nightengale wrote. "He asked for a bit more time, was going to discuss it with his family during lunch, and the next thing they knew he was signing with the Mets after being persuaded by family members."

Only time will tell if the Yankees made the right move letting Soto go. For now though, they seem pretty smart.
