Yankees Take Another Injury Hit With Trent Grisham's Latest Update

The hits kept coming Monday night, and not the good kind. After placing Fernando Cruz on the injured list and having Austin Wells undergo testing, New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham left Monday’s series opener in Toronto with left hamstring tightness.

Grisham had singled and scored in the top of the fourth, but he didn’t return to the field in the bottom half.

The severity of Grisham's injury is still unclear, but it’s a tough blow for a player who’s quietly become a crucial part of the Yankees’ everyday lineup.

Grisham has made the most of his opportunities in New York, going from fourth outfielder to fixture. He’s played elite defense, shown real power, and entered Monday slashing .244/.346/.467 with 15 homers in 71 games. He’s done exactly what the Yankees needed him to do—give them another left-handed bat and reliable glove in center.

And he is also a tremendous outfielder, which obviously means he needs his legs in good condition.

But now, that consistency is in question.

This comes on a day when the Yankees already placed  Cruz on the injured list with an oblique strain and Austin Wells was sent for testing on his left finger for a circulatory issues.

The Yankees do have options.

Cody Bellinger can play center field. But none of it replaces Grisham’s rhythm or presence, especially not right now as the club tries to shake off a sluggish June and protect its shrinking division lead.

It’s not panic time, but it’s another test. And another reminder that depth only matters if it holds.
