The WWE might be seeing more crossovers with the UFC soon. Dana White expressed an interest in having his MMA fighters cross over to the Connecticut-based promotion, building off being under the same TKO Holdings umbrella.
Already, both promotions are partnering together for more ambitious projects. That includes NXT Battleground, an event happening at UFC Apex on June 9, where wrestling’s stars of tomorrow will compete.
With that, expect more UFC superstars to cross over and take on wrestlers like Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. There are already some WWE superstars that can make the transition to the octagon. Here are three UFC fighters who can stand out in the squared circle.
Saturday’s shining star, Derrick Lewis, is interested in transitioning over to professional wrestling. The Houston native called it a “good side hustle” and stated his intent to stay in the UFC.
Lewis would be a good fit in the WWE, too. The “Black Beast” weighs in at 260 lbs. and has a fun costume idea, making the transition flawless. He might compete against wrestlers like Drew McIntyre or even fight Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Lewis has the personality to fit in professional wrestling. He’s fun, goofy, and can work a crowd. Expect the 39-year-old to become a fan favorite once he hits the squared circle.
“Poatan” is already entertaining fighting fans with jaw-dropping knockouts, making his presence known in the UFC. He has ambitious plans to go to the heavyweight division and test his hand against Jon Jones. Why not put him in a wrestling ring and see how he does?
With Pereira’s athletic abilities, the transition would be seamless. Like Lewis, the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion has an entertaining personality, lighting up the crowd with his hilarious quips and actions.
Could fans see the Brazilian superstar take on superstars like Dominik Mysterio or Chad Gable? Stay tuned because it might be a possibility. In the meantime, UFC fans can watch “Poatan” take on MMA’s best fighters with his immaculate fighting ability.
Michel Pereira is known for his high-flying, athletic style in the UFC. He performs various backflips and flying knees, making him an entertaining fighter. Fans are already watching him perform various cruiserweight moves in MMA, so what would be the difference? A move to the WWE would be flawless for the middleweight fighter.
While Pereira’s fighting style might be controversial (and a bit dangerous), it can be the perfect fit in the squared circle. With the proper training and conditioning, his high-flying style would transition well in the lower-weight divisions. He would have good feuds with Ilya Dragunov and Ricochet. If Periera’s UFC ends one day, watch for him to wrestle in the Connecticut-based promotion.
