Aaron Pico faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being knocked out at UFC 319.
Earlier this month, the long-time Bellator contender endured a disastrous debut in MMA’s premier promotion.
Aaron Pico was left out cold on the canvas after eating a spinning back elbow from Lerone Murphy.
The 28-year-old has now been hit with an MMA ban imposed by someone within his own team.
MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz recently provided an update on Aaron Pico’s health after UFC 319.
The featherweight star is doing well, but won’t be allowed to compete again for at least six months.
Abdelaziz says anyone on his roster who gets badly KO’d must sit out for half a year before he even considers booking them another bout.
“I have rules, man,” he told Submission Radio when asked about Pico’s comeback fight.
“When guys get knocked out like that, I’m not gonna book him a fight for at least six months.
“After six months, he can fight. But at least six months. It’s not healthy for a fighter to go out like that and just try to come back early. We see it over and over happen to many guys, like Volk. It doesn’t work good for them when the guys come back too early.
“They say health is most important. He’ll be back. Don’t worry about it, honestly. He’s good, his health is good.”
Aaron Pico spoke out less than 24 hours after his devastating spinning elbow KO loss at UFC 319.
“Last night wasn’t my night, that’s the fight game,” he wrote on Instagram.
“I’m grateful for my team, my family, and everyone who continues to support me. The supporters that have been there from day one and my new supporters, I see you! Thank you.
“Wins and losses both teach lessons and I’ll come back sharper, stronger, and better prepared. Thank you all who have sent messages and checked in, my health is well.
“Thanks for riding with me. My story is not over,”
Justin Gaethje has since backed Pico to rebound from the loss because he’s ‘one of the best in the world’
Islam Makhachev also sent a message of support to Murphy’s unlucky KO victim, who certainly has lots of support ahead of his comeback attempt.
For now, Pico will rest, recover, and wait for Ali Abdelaziz to give him the all-clear to fight again.
