Jose Aldo made a series of explosive revelations, claiming that Conor McGregor was on a “bender” during their world tour in 2015.
Aldo alleged that McGregor was using both alcohol and drugs throughout the tour. In one of the more anecdotes, Aldo recalled McGregor calling his private jet while drunk. Aldo noted that this wasn’t an isolated incident. He claimed that McGregor maintained a similar lifestyle while filming The Ultimate Fighter 22 against Urijah Faber, often showing up to set after partying.
Perhaps most surprising is that despite the insults and the infamous 13-second knockout loss at UFC 194, the two now have a respectful relationship. In his post-fight comments after the win, McGregor had nothing but respect for Aldo, who he referred to as a great champion.
“Nobody can take that left-hand shot. I tell you, he’s powerful and he’s fast, but precision beats power and timing beats speed. Honestly, I feel for Jose. He was a phenomenal champion and we deserved to go a bit longer. ‘But I do feel, at the end of the day, precision beats power and timing beats speed. “So, it would’ve happened sooner or later,” McGregor said
The two now follow one another on Instagram and chat regularly. Aldo laughed off a past “troll” move, confirming McGregor once left actual red lingerie at his hotel room door after Aldo’s win at UFC 200—a nod to the famous “Red Panty Night” catchphrase. Aldo has made peace with the past, largely due to the money he made from their rivalry.
“It was a whole month promoting the fight. When the camera was on, And [off camera] he was going crazy. Sniffing and drinking all the time. Crazy stuff. He would just show up and not even train the fighters and say, ‘They are ready. It was partying all day. Completely crazy,” Aldo said
