Former two-division UFC champion Alex Pereira found himself at the center of criticism over the weekend after fans accused him of failing to meet expectations during a seminar in the United Kingdom.

Now, the company responsible for organizing the tour says the blame rests entirely with them not Pereira. Joyagear, the event organizer behind Pereira’s U.K. seminar tour, released a lengthy public statement. Accepting full responsibility for the confusion and apologizing to fans affected by the incident.

The controversy erupted after attendees claimed Pereira declined to sign memorabilia, refused photos with fans and ended his appearance earlier than expected.

Joyagear says those expectations were never communicated to Pereira. “As the event organizer, Joyagear takes full responsibility for the organization, logistics, communication, and agreed deliverables surrounding these events,” the company said in its statement.

According to Joyagear, Pereira trusted them to coordinate every aspect of the tour. But internal communication failures led to misunderstandings regarding what fans had been promised.

“We want to make one thing very clear: Alex Pereira was not at fault.”

Miscommunication Led to Fan Frustration

Joyagear explained that Pereira believed the Keighley appearance consisted solely of a one-hour seminar. The company stated that Pereira completed the seminar exactly as instructed and was never informed that autograph sessions, individual photographs or additional meet-and-greet time had been advertised.

“Alex was informed by Joyagear that the Keighley event consisted of a one-hour seminar, which he delivered in full,” the statement read. “He was not late, and he completed the seminar exactly as it had been communicated to him.”

The organizers also noted that the local seminar promoter had been fully informed of the agreed schedule before the event.

Meet-and-Greet Ticket Holders to Receive Refunds

To address the situation, Joyagear announced that every fan who purchased a Meet & Greet ticket will receive a full refund. The company acknowledged that the event failed to meet the standard it expects from its athlete appearances.

“We sincerely apologize for our miscommunication and for the inconvenience this has caused.” Joyagear added that it plans to review its internal communication process to ensure similar situations do not happen during future events.
