Alex Pereira’s preparation for his heavyweight debut has quickly become a talking point, with fans focusing on an unexpected aspect of his training camp.

The Brazilian is set to move up in weight after the UFC accepted his request to leave the light heavyweight division. He will face Ciryl Gane for the interim title on 14 June. That bout is scheduled for UFC Freedom 250 at the White House, marking a historic setting.

Pereira’s move signals a bold new chapter in his career, with him close to becoming the first UFC fighter ever to hold titles in three different classes.

Pereira’s approach to the new division drew attention after Glover Teixeira shared a glimpse into his routine on Instagram.

The former UFC champion filmed ‘Poatan’ eating two hamburgers and fries during camp, jokingly describing it as a “heavyweight diet” while Pereira continued his preparations.

The clip emerged while the 38-year-old was in Brazil with Teixeira, having travelled to Sobralia, his coach’s hometown, during the Easter period.

Away from training, Pereira was also seen engaging with the local community, handing out chocolate to children in a charity gesture.
