Alexander Volkanovski hasn’t fought since reclaiming the UFC featherweight title in April.
‘The Great’ outpointed top contender Diego Lopes over five rounds when they headlined UFC 314.
It seems highly unlikely that Alexander Volkanovski will defend his 145lb belt before the year is out.
Henry Cejudo recently claimed a featherweight title fight with Lerone Murphy was set to headline UFC 323 on December 6 before a massive U-turn left the division in limbo.
Steve Garcia is set to headline UFC Vegas 110 when he faces David Onama on Saturday night.
The featherweight, who is on a six-fight win streak, recently expressed his frustration with the state of the division.
“Volk’s too busy cooking,” Garcia said during the UFC Vegas 110 Media Day.
“So, he’s holding everybody up at the top.
“He just needs to make a decision. Just pick somebody!
“I don’t know, just pull it out of a hat. Somebody, right? Because we are all waiting.
“Get the division going again.”

Steve Garcia is currently ranked #12 and will need a few more big wins to put himself in line for a fight with Alexander Volkanovski.
‘Mean Machine’ has shown he can string victories together – he’s unbeaten since June 2022.
Garcia handed Calvin Kattar his fifth-straight loss when they fought at UFC Nashville in July.
Before that, the 33-year-old picked up consecutive KO wins over Kyle Nelson, Seung Woo Choi, Melquizael Costa, Shayilan Nuerdanbieke, and Chase Hooper.
David Onama will almost certainly be Garcia’s toughest test to date. The 14-2 featherweight has won six of his eight fights inside the Octagon, with the most recent of them being a decision victory over Giga Chikadze.
