Allen Makes De Ridder Quit On The Stool

Brendan Allen shocked Reinier de Ridder at UFC Vancouver, as the latter’s camp threw in the towel following the fourth round.

Allen’s victory ended the Dutchman’s four-fight winning streak, making a major statement in the middleweight division. Allen did not have it all his way early on. He failed to secure a takedown in the opener, while also having had to fight off submission threats. However, his superior conditioning allowed him to take a major foothold in the fight. Allen was the dominant grappler, with over 11 minutes in control positions.

Allen’s striking was also on point, as outlanded De Ridder by 128 to 51. The accumulation of damage was so much that de Ridder’s gas tank was drained, as he struggled to get to his corner following the conclusion of the fourth. Referee Jason Herzog assessed the situation as De Ridder’s team threw in the towel. Allen then called out Dricus Du Plessis, Sean Strickland and UFC Middleweight Champion Khamzat Chimaev for his next bout.

“It feels good to do exactly what I said I would do. This was me 3.5 weeks off the couch. I told you I’m a different monster, when my head is clear and we’re on, I’m the best in the world. Chimaev, if you want a good grappler, someone young and hungry, you got it baby. Dricus, where you at? I’ve been trying to get at you for a minute. If not, Sean, it’s time to run it back,” Allen said
