Amanda Nunes has gained recognition for her achievements with the news that she will enter the UFC Hall of Fame.

Reports indicate that the induction will occur on June 28 this year in Las Vegas. The news broke when Nunes was in attendance at UFC 314. Nunes has established herself as one of the best female fighters ever. Her titles and wins are demonstrative of that. She became a two-division champion by winning titles at bantamweight and featherweight.

During this period, she secured wins over the biggest names in the sport: Valentina Shevchenko, Holly Holm, Miesha Tate, Germaine de Randamie, Ronda Rousey and Cris Cyborg. She retired from the UFC after her UFC 289 win over Irene Aldana in 2023. The win meant she retained her UFC Bantamweight Title, as she left the sport at its peak. Nunes made it clear that her focus was her family, while also saying she needed a rest from the sport.

“I cannot kick as much anymore. My legs have nerve damage from over the years. So things are starting to get harder for me. My shoulders need rest, my knees. Even my teeth need work after getting hit in the mouth so many times. I don’t see myself back in the cage any time soon.

“I am looking forward to a break. My body needs this. I wanted Dana to know first. That was my best opportunity to tell him. I wasn’t sure until then. I needed to feel it in the moment. So as soon as the fight was over, I told him, ‘I’m done. I need to take care of my body and give it a break. We’ll see what happens in the future,” Nunes said

She has been linked with a return to the sport. Nunes could target the winner of Julianna Pena vs. Kayla Harrison. They will do battle at UFC 316 in a bantamweight title clash. Nunes already has a win over Pena. If Harrison secures a win and becomes a UFC champ following her titles in the PFL, that may be enough to sway Nunes out of retirement.

“They surprised me. I didn’t expect it at all. I love this game. [And] I love the fight. [And] I miss it so much. [And] I honestly have a hard time being away. I tried everything. I tried maybe coaching, maybe doing this and that, but I’m a fighter, you know? I’m a lioness. I cannot be away from this game, [and I am] so ready to get back here, but tonight was amazing.

“I feel like the whole thing with Kayla Harrison motivated me. She got in the UFC and that was a big thing. She used to talk about me all the time in interviews, and so I said, ‘You know what? I don’t have any injuries, I’m good. I’m still training, I’m still healthy, so why not?’ It’s a good challenge, and my whole career I’m moved by challenges. I love that feeling,” Nunes stated
