Angela Hill off UFC 256 card due to positive COVID-19 test

A women's strawweight fight has been scrapped from this coming Saturday's UFC 256 card.

On Sunday night, Angela Hill (12-9) explained in a tweet that she tested positive for COVID-19 and won't be available to face Tecia Torres (11-5) this weekend. According to Marc Raimondi of ESPN, it's unknown if Torres will fight a different opponent as of Monday afternoon.

"Tried to stay as safe as possible during fightcamp but with mma training there’s virtually no social distancing," Hill wrote. "Was looking forward to running it back, maybe in the near future."

Hill, who turns 36 in January, fought four times in 2020 but lost her last two contests. She fell to Claudia Gadelha in May and then lost a split decision to Michelle Waterson in September. She's 12th in the current UFC rankings for her division.

Torres, ranked No. 9, earned a unanimous decision win over Brianna Van Buren in June to end a four-fight losing streak that began back in February 2018. She defeated Hill at UFC 188 in June 2015.

Deiveson Figueiredo will defend his flyweight title versus Brandon Moreno in the main event of UFC 256.
