Arman Tsarukyan vs Colby Covington: RAF Wrestling boss makes the case for dream match UFC can’t make

Arman Tsarukyan and Colby Covington seem to have been told they can’t wrestle by the UFC – but Chad Bronstein plans to change that.

The top lightweight contender has been taking on all comers in a world tour of non-fighting activity that has seen him compete six times since his last octagon outing against Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar in November. He has grown exponentially as a star through appearances – as well as some impressive wins.

Now, Tsarukyan wants to take on former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington who is also awaiting a return to fighting. And despite the fact that it is an impossible fight for the UFC to make due to weights, they appear to be held back from doing it in RAF Wrestling due to some promotional red tape.

Chad Bronstein reveals plan to make Arman Tsarukyan vs Colby Covington a reality

With Arman Tsarukyan set to return this Saturday at RAF08 in Philadelphia against Urijah Faber and Colby Covington coming back on May 30 at RAF09, both men are staying active. They had a brief war of words following their co-headlining victories over Georgio Poullas and Dillon Danis last month.

However, UFC bosses aren’t keen on seeing matchups between active competitors from their roster during their outside activities. Now, RAF Wrestling boss Chad Bronstein is making the case for why this would be a great exception.

“I haven’t really talked to Hunter [Campbell] about Colby and Arman yet,” Bronstein told Bloody Elbow in an exclusive chat ahead of this weekend’s show live on Fox Nation. “They want to wrestle each other and they’ve been talking about it.

“The thing is that Colby and Arman will never fight in the UFC, ever. They’re two different weight classes in the UFC and it’s just not going to happen… We’re not competitive to UFC, I think it’s a great additive approach for everybody.”

Bronstein also noted how easy he has found working with Tsarukyan, who is known as something of a ‘bad boy’ in the UFC. He expects him to be a regular face on their shows, starting this weekend against legendary bantamweight Faber.
