Arman Tsarukyan and Georgio Poullas won’t be settling their differences in the cage anytime soon, with their grappling rematch now reportedly off the table.
The two fighters were set to face each other again on March 11 after agreeing to a submission-only contest under the Hype FC banner. This came just days after Tsarukyan’s win over Poullas at RAF06, which ended in a post-fight brawl between the camps.
Poullas had gone public with his desire for a third meeting, saying he was hoping to set up another wrestling match regardless of how the grappling contest played out. But that plan appears to have fallen through, with RAF officials confirming that the rematch is off.
During his appearance on Helwani’s show, Poullas mentioned that no contract had been finalised for the March 11 grappling bout with Tsarukyan. He added that he wanted any agreement to include a follow-up wrestling match under the RAF banner.
Helwani later reported that RAF Wrestling co-founder Chad Bronstein informed him that the grappling match has been scrapped. Instead, Poullas is now focusing on securing a second wrestling bout after their first contest ended 5-3 in favour of Tsarukyan.
Georgio Poullas didn’t sound confident about beating Arman Tsarukyan in a submission grappling match, but he still planned to go through with it just to secure a third wrestling bout.
He spoke openly about his approach on the Helwani Show, saying: “Of course he doesn’t want to wrestle me again because he knows he’s going to lose. He felt my pressure. The only reason he won was because of the penalty points.
“But guess what? I’m supposed to go to Brazil to grapple him now. And you know why I’m doing that? So that he agrees to the rematch.”
Poullas wasn’t shy about his expectations for how things might go in their second meeting, even telling Helwani: “So what? He wants to choke me out? He wants to squeeze me?
“Good s—, bro. You can choke me out. You can squeeze me tight. I don’t care. The only reason I’m doing that is to get my get-back in this wrestling match.”
