On Saturday, November 23rd, former Bantamweight champion, Petr ‘No Mercy’ Yan (17-5-0) and former Flyweight champion, Deiveson Figueiredo (24-3-1) will face off at the Galaxy Arena, Cotai, Macau for the main event. This will be the UFC’s first time fighting in China in 10 years.
Petr Yan is coming off a win in March over Song Yadong, by a unanimous decision. He is a confident and well-rounded fighter tauted by one UFC insider. The Insider also listed Yan’s strengths are his takedown defense and offense, his underrated striking, and his offensive wrestling. He tends not to be a backward fighter, and he consistently moves forward with a reach of 67”. Yan averages about 85% takedown defense.
Deiveson Figueiredo comes into this fight, undefeated in his new weight class. Figueiredo has made a few improvements since moving from the Flyweight class an insider who’s familiar with his training regimen. He has improved his cardio and focused more energy on his wrestling skills. He has had more takedowns in his last three fights than in his last seven fights combined.
Most experts are picking Petr Yan to win this card because of the power in his striking ability and his takedown defense.
It will be interesting to see if Figueiredo will be successful in a five-round fight now that he has made a few improvements or will Petr Yan keep his energy and power throughout the whole bout to come out on top.
