Barcelos Confirms He's Fine After UFC Vegas 121 Scare

Raoni Barcelos has reassured fans he is recovering well after a frightening conclusion to his main event bout against Raul Rosas Jr. at UFC Vegas 121.

The Brazilian bantamweight went limp during a late exchange Saturday night at Meta Apex and was stretchered from the cage following the fifth-round stoppage. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation, where the promotion confirmed he was stable, alert and responsive.

Barcelos Posts Update After Medical Checks

Barcelos addressed supporters directly in the comments of a UFC Brazil Instagram post, according to Sherdog. "Hello everyone, I just want to say to all of you that I'm really fine and as soon as possible I'll do a video for you guys," he wrote. "I promised a great fight and delivered. Thank you, God and everyone that fought with me inside and outside of that Octagon."

His coach Davi Ramos had previously told fans the veteran was doing well while undergoing additional medical checks. Barcelos is said to remain under medical supervision.

The 38-year-old dropped to 18-7 with the loss to the rising Rosas Jr. in the Vegas headliner.
