Former welterweight champion Belal Muhammad suffered his third consecutive loss on Saturday losing to Gabriel Bonfim in the UFC Vegas 118 main event.

It was a one-sided fight with Bonfim winning every round on the judges' scorecards. On Sunday, Muhammad released a statement addressing the loss.

"Alhamdillah for everything to blessed to be stressed.. You don’t find out who you are when everything goes your way. You find out when it doesn’t. Grateful for the journey, grateful for the lessons," Muhammad wrote on Instagram.

"I’ll be back...Thankyou to all my supporters my team and family .. congrats my brother on his big win his hard work paying off on his way to the title."

Muhammad captured the 170-pound title by dethroning Leon Edwards in July 2024. He was beaten by Jack Della Maddalena in his first title defense and then lost to Ian Machado Garry via unanimous decision. Now on a three-fight losing streak, the 37 year-old has an uphill climb back to the top of the division.
