BKFC Hammond fight week is ongoing. This Saturday night, David Feldman’s bare-knuckle boxing promotion can cross another US state off of locations it has yet to visit. BKFC returns to action for the first of two straight weekends to close October while making its first-ever trip to the Hoosier State.
Hammond, IN is the host city for this week’s edition of BKFC Fight Night. Horseshoe Casino serves as the setting on Saturday night. The promotion will cross off still another state it hasn’t visited the night after Halloween.
On Nov. 1, BKFC will make its initial stop in Michigan for another BKFC Fight Night at Soaring Eagle Casino. More on that card when the time comes.
Our focus on this day is on BKFC Hammond. Coverage of this week’s card begins with the countdown show at 8 pm ET/ 5 pm PT on YouTube before moving onto the fights themselves an hour later. As usual, BKFC Hammond can be seen via DAZN. Barring any adjustments to the schedule, the final version of Saturday’s card sees 10 fights inside the ring.
At the top of the bill Saturday night in Indiana, you’ll be treated to a middleweight (175 lbs) contest matching undefeated Bryce Henry (5-0 bare-knuckle) and Roderick Stewart (2-2 bare-knuckle.) All fights on BKFC Hammond are an advertised maximum of five rounds at two minutes per round.
Henry has yet to lose in his bare-knuckle tenure. His last fight occurred six months to the day before BKFC Hammond.
On April 18, he stopped Derrick Findley inside the second round in BKFC Omaha during the Easter holiday weekend. Counting traditional boxing, Saturday’s fight is his 13th inside the ring, but he’ll be fighting with a change of opponent.
Initially, Henry was to have fought Jake Lindsey (5-1 bare-knuckle) in the main event in what would have been Lindsey’s first fight in over a year before the contest was postponed. Can Henry stay unbeaten under the BKFC banner?
Meanwhile, Roderick Stewart comes in having gone 2-2 thus far in BKFC. He’s won two matches in succession, including a unanimous decision win over James Gray (0-1 bare-knuckle) in BKFC 78 on June 21. Stewart was slated to fight earlier in October, but his Oct. 4 fight versus John Garbarino (3-0 bare-knuckle) was withdrawn prior to fight night because the latter suffered a broken ankle while at work.
He’s had a few weeks to switch his focus to Bryce Henry. Will he secure his third consecutive win?
Immediately beforehand, the BKFC Hammond co-main attraction pits fellow middleweights Cameron VanCamp (2-2 bare-knuckle) and the aforementioned Derrick Findley (3-3 bare-knuckle) against one another. VanCamp comes into Indiana batting .500 in BKFC. Back on Feb. 1, he was on the receiving end of a fourth-round knockout by way of a right hand from Julian Lane inside Mohegan Sun Arena.
VanCamp, who went winless at 0-2 in the UFC, has had over seven and a half months to recover from his defeat last winter. However, he’s catching a break going into Saturday evening’s card.
He has ties to Indiana, so expect a partisan crowd to be in full throat for their favorite son over the weekend.
Across the way, Derrick Findley has also gone .500 since joining the promotion. Prior to fighting main-eventer Bryce Henry this past spring, he secured a third-round knockout victory against Felipe Chavez (3-1 bare-knuckle) in February.
He’ll be playing the heel in the BKFC Hammond co-main event of the evening. Can he make sure the hometown crowd drives home with long faces? Only time will tell.
Your featured fight of the evening in BKFC Hammond takes place in the flyweight division. Nate Maness (1-0 bare-knuckle) looks to build off of his BKFC debut when he squares off with Tyler Randall (4-3 bare-knuckle.)
Maness enters this weekend’s card having posted a 3-2 record in his last five fights. At the moment, he’s won three in a row.
Last December, he turned his attention to bare-knuckle boxing with a third-round knockout of Nick Burgos (0-2 bare-knuckle) in Atlanta. Maness was supposed to have appeared in a kickboxing match this past summer before the contest versus Christopher Nelson was scrubbed.
How much ring rust does he have going into this contest? Tune in and find out.
In the other corner, Tyler Randall comes into BKFC Hammond with a mark of 2-3 in his last five bouts. This past February, he dropped a unanimous decision at the hands of Andrew Strode (4-0 bare-knuckle) in Mohegan Sun Arena.
Strode has since secured the BKFC Interim Flyweight Championship in July with a second-round TKO by way of doctor’s stoppage when his opponent Gee Perez couldn’t press forward due to sustaining a cut. Although Tyler Randall will be trekking up north for this contest, will he be able to go back to Florida with a win?
