After losing his undefeated record, one of the biggest prospects in the sport faced some harsh criticism.
Bo Nickal’s ability and mindset were questioned following his latest outing at UFC Des Moines where he was stopped by Reinier de Ridder.
The 29-year-old only amplified this response from the fans and fellow fighters, with Nickal claiming that it will come back to bite all of them in the future.
While there are currently no plans in place for his UFC return, though Nickal is returning to wrestling via Real American Freestyle, he clearly still has something to get off his chest.
A skit featuring the UFC middleweight made reference to some of the comments he received but this time around, he got to serve up some instant payback.
In a recent skit posted on Instagram, Bo Nickal made light of the reaction to his first loss inside of the Octagon.
In the 8th fight of his pro career, the wrestling standout was stopped by Reinier de Ridder in the second round after ‘The Dutch Knight’ hurt his opponent with a knee to the body,
A lot of the criticism surrounding Nickal’s performance focused on his reaction and body language once he started to take damage from his opponent.
This was referenced in the video, which shows him training alongside PFL middleweight standout Johnny Eblen until comedian Redd Miller (ImReddTV) walks past their grappling session and gives his thoughts.
“I’mma tell you right now Johnny, his weak a– can’t take no knees,” Miller says as Nickal gets up to confront him. “Bro, I’m talking to him, I seen his last fight. You can’t take no f—— knees, I seen it.”
Before Miller can walk away while pretending to be on the phone, Nickal flew through the air with a jumping knee to the body, which as many fans pointed out in the replies, didn’t land with much impact.
Despite this, Miller sold the shot by falling to the ground in pain, writing in the video’s caption: “Did you guys hear that crack?”
Reinier de Ridder claimed ahead of his fight with Bo Nickal that while his opponent wasn’t high up in the rankings, he was still one of the biggest names to record a win over.
This has proven to be true in the aftermath of their meeting in Des Moines where ‘The Dutch Knight’ continued his rise in the UFC after debuting in the promotion last November.
On July 26, ‘RDR’ will face former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in the main event of UFC Abu Dhabi where a win would put him into the title picture.
