UFC brawler Bryan Barberena will face another impressive veteran for his next Octagon assignment.
As announced by the UFC on Tuesday, Barberena will face Gerald Meerschaert at a March 16th event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. This will be Barberena's second consecutive fight at middleweight after a string of recent welterweight victories.
Barberena is looking to snap a three-fight losing streak after recent submission losses to Gunnar Nelson and Rafael dos Anjos. His last victory was against UFC Hall of Famer Robbie Lawler at UFC 276 in 2022.
Barberena will face another game opponent in Meerschaert, who is also looking to snap a recent skid. He most recently lost a split decision to Andre Petroski at UFC 292 last August.

Meerschaert has earned wins over the likes of Bruno Silva, Dustin Stoltzfus, and Makhmud Muradov inside the Octagon. Barberena has defeated the likes of Lawler, Matt Brown, and Jake Ellenberger in recent years.
Both middleweights are looking to get back on track in their careers, and this stylistic matchup figures to feature plenty of excitement inside the cage.
The March 16th UFC Fight Night event is headlined by a heavyweight clash between contenders Tai Tuivasa and Marcin Tybura.
