Hooker was coming off a 2nd-round submission loss to Arman Tsarukyan just over two months ago at UFC Qatar (November 2025). Prior to the Tsarukyan defeat, Hooker was on a three-fight winning streak, including a decision victory over Mateusz Gamrot. Meanwhile, Saint Denis was fresh off a 16-second knockout of Beneil Dariush at UFC 322 in November.
