MIAMI — For Carlos Ulberg, the dream came true. Just not the way he imagined. Fresh off his stunning knockout win over Jiri Prochazka to capture the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 327, Ulberg admitted the moment still hasn’t fully registered and may be overshadowed, at least for now, by concern over his health. “It is all over the place at the moment… it hasn’t really sunk in.”

Ulberg’s title-winning performance will go down as one of the most dramatic in recent UFC history. Early in the fight, his right knee appeared to give out repeatedly. He struggled to plant, stumbled across the cage, and hit the canvas multiple times as the injury visibly worsened.

During the bout, there were moments where Prochazka appeared to ease off, seemingly acknowledging Ulberg’s injury. Ulberg, however, dismissed the idea that mercy played any role. “I think he made the mistake there… I would not have done the same.” For Ulberg, a title fight comes with one rule:

Do whatever it takes to win. Now comes the uncertainty. Ulberg is awaiting medical scans to determine the severity of the knee injury one that clearly impacted him throughout the fight.

Despite reaching the top of the division, Ulberg isn’t looking too far ahead. “I’m not too sure who else is there… I just get myself into the gym and prepare for whatever is next.” For now, the focus isn’t on challengers. It’s on healing.
