Tensions are seemingly rising between Charles Oliveira and Max Holloway ahead of a potential rematch, but this time, with the ‘BMF’ title on the line.
After being knocked out against Ilia Topuria earlier this year in the UFC 317 main event, Charles Oliveira‘s career at the top seemed to be teetering on the edge.
Despite that, when the premier promotion returned to Brazil this past October, ‘Do Bronx’ made certain that he was competing on the card, and after his original opponent Rafael Fiziev withdrew, he accepted a late notice change against Mateusz Gamrot.
The Brazilian favorite went on to bounce back from his loss with an extremely impressive submission win, adding to his already incredible legacy.
Immediately after his bounce back win, Oliveira asked the UFC for a rematch against current ‘BMF’ champion, Max Holloway.
The two first met back in 2015 and Oliveira was labeled a ‘quitter’ after he claimed he suffered an injury which led to the first round stoppage.
‘Blessed’ seemingly agreed to the rematch and suggested that the two fight in either February or March, stating that he doesn’t want to wait until June’s UFC White House event to return.
And while negotiations seem to get going for the rematch, Holloway recently stated during an interview that despite Oliveira claiming the first fight ended due to injury, nothing was ever found when he was released from the doctors.
The champions comments didn’t sit well with Oliveira who confronted him this past Saturday during an interview of his own.
“He’s actually a guy I respect a lot, based on my last fight with him everyone knows I had an injury, he says I didn’t but I did have an injury. It would certainly be a good reunion,” Oliveira told the UFC.
“Max wants to fight as soon as possible, right? Let’s see, let’s talk to the UFC and understand what is best for both of us,” he continued.
As well as being called out by Oliveira just a few weeks prior, Holloway received another callout this past Saturday at UFC Vegas 110.
In the main event, featherweight top 10 hopefuls Steve Garcia and David Onama clashed in the main event.
Garcia went on to score the first round knockout win, and subsequently went on to call out Holloway, labeling it a ‘Rocky Balboa’ fight.
The BMF champion went on to react to the callout, offering his hilarious response to a fight that likely won’t happen any time soon.
