Charles Oliveira: Fans ‘should forget about Conor McGregor coming back

Conor McGregor may still be on a few UFC fans radar but he’s not on Charles Oliveira’s radar anymore.

Oliveira had dreamed up of a possible matchup against McGregor but it’s no longer the case.

In fact, he doesn’t see McGregor as an opponent for anybody. Oliveira even questions if McGregor will even step foot back into the octagon to compete again.

McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) hasn’t fought anybody since breaking his leg in a TKO loss against Destin Poirier in July 2021.

In UFC 303, McGregor was scheduled to return against Michael Chandler last June, but he withdrew because of a broken pinky toe.

Michael Chandler went on to fight Oliveira in UFC 309. Oliveira won by unanimous decision.

“To be honest, I don’t know why people are still talking about Conor McGregor,” Oliveira said in an interview with online sportsbook Oddspedia.

“He has done everything he wanted to do in the sport, and now he chooses to live his life the way he is living. We were waiting for his return, and Michael Chandler was waiting for about two years, but he didn’t show up. I think the fans should forget about Conor McGregor coming back. He isn’t going to fight again.” Oliveira continued.

The idea that most fans have of McGregor’s return seems to look bleaker as McGregor has entered the political arena with a recent visit to the White House to talk with President Donald Trump about Irish immigration policy.

McGregor has also been dealing with some legal issues. In late 2024, McGregor was found liable for sexual assault of Nikita Hand by an Irish jury in civil court.

He’s also facing a lawsuit in the U.S. alleging sexual battery at a 2023 NBA Finals game in Miami.
