Charles Oliveira is pleased to have silenced those who doubted he had what it takes to be a BMF.

On Saturday night, the Brazilian beat Max Holloway in a bout that played out very differently from previous BMF title fights, claiming the belt in the process.

The fight itself did not match the high-octane pace fans had grown used to from past BMF clashes. Instead, ‘Do Bronx’ controlled the action with his grappling.

Joe Rogan may have hit back at fans for booing during the headliner, but even some of the UFC’s biggest names did not hold back in their criticism.

Oliveira’s BMF title win has not won over everyone, with both Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz voicing their criticism.

The two veteran fighters made it clear they were not impressed by the Brazilian’s performance against Holloway.

After the fight, ‘Do Bronx’ was asked about those comments and replied: “If you want to put them at 170, if you want to put them up there, I don’t care. If you want to put them at middleweight, we do it. It doesn’t matter. I’ll tell you what, if you want, make it a Grand Prix. Put two fights on the same day, see what happens.”

The Brazilian also addressed Dan Hooker’s criticism. “I think Dan Hooker’s in love with me, I truly do.

“He’s always focused on me, he’s tweeting about me, he searches for stuff about me, he’s always just snooping around. Why don’t you focus on your career?”

Conor McGregor eyes BMF belt return to welterweight

Speaking on the Smash Cast, McGregor said he wants to see the BMF title return to its original division.

Jorge Masvidal left the UFC before ever defending the belt, and it has since shifted down to lightweight.

While Oliveira has shown interest in facing both McGregor and Diaz, the Irishman is hoping that a fight with ‘Do Bronx’ could pave the way for his long-awaited trilogy bout with Diaz.

‘The Notorious’ said: “The BMF title was founded by Nate Diaz at 170 pounds. The creator of the belt. So, the belt should be contested at 170 pounds and I’m up for it. I’ll go and take it and I’ll bring it back and me and Nate can complete the trilogy for the belt.”
