Conor McGregor has been the source of inspiration for countless fighters and fans around the world, thanks to his remarkable rise from plumbing jobs in Dublin to becoming the biggest star in combat sports. His story of grit, ambition and showmanship has motivated an entire generation.

But even “The Notorious” had his own heroes growing up — figures who lit the fire in him long before the bright lights of the UFC. Recently, McGregor finally had the chance to meet one of those childhood inspirations, and of course, he couldn’t resist sharing the moment with his millions of followers online.

The man McGregor was so excited to meet was none other than David Beckham. For those who don’t know, Beckham did for soccer what Conor has done for MMA — he completely transcended the sport. Back when most players stuck to just playing the game, Beckham turned himself into a global brand.

With his trademark style and flair, he branched out into fashion, modeling and plenty of other ventures. Add to that his high-profile relationship with Victoria Beckham, one of the biggest pop stars of her era, and it’s no wonder he became a cultural icon. Even today, Beckham remains one of the most recognizable and influential athletes in the world.

Conor McGregor Once Branded David Beckham as His Fashion Inspiration

McGregor didn’t hold back when talking about his admiration for David Beckham, calling him the original style icon for men. He praised Beckham as a true pioneer who set the standard for fashion in sports and beyond.

McGregor even revealed that Beckham had personally sent him some clothes, which he kept in his office at the time. He shared a personal touch too, mentioning that at his daughter’s christening, his sister wore a dress from Victoria Beckham’s fashion line. While McGregor admitted he often looked to Beckham for inspiration when it came to style, he also made it clear that his biggest influences had always been closer to home his mother and father.
