Conor McGregor re-negotiated his UFC contract ahead of his upcoming return.
MMA’s biggest superstar will be back in action as the headliner for the 2026 edition of International Fight Week, which concludes with the UFC 329 numbered event.
McGregor will fight Max Holloway, as the pair run it back at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena in a welterweight bout 13 years after the Irishman’s victory over ‘Blessed’ down at 145 pounds.
With no pay-per-view under the Paramount+ deal, the UFC had to go back to the table to secure McGregor’s Octagon comeback.
After the UFC inked a $7 billion broadcast deal with Paramount, the PPV model was left in the past.
Given his record-breaking numbers for his fights, ‘The Notorious’ was taking home a handsome slice of the pie for the events he headlined. With the system changing, McGregor called his UFC contract “voided” as a result of the new broadcast agreement.
While that posed a hurdle in the way of his long-awaited comeback, McGregor confirmed a new UFC deal recently.
But although he is happy with the number they landed on, the former two-division champion still does not think the promotion is paying him what he is “worth.”
“I am happy to an extent,” McGregor said about his new deal during a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show. “There’s a lot more there.
“I hope (my future) is with the UFC. I hope I get honored even more. I’m gonna prove even more so what I am about.
“It wasn’t that difficult,” he added regarding negotiations. “We met in the middle. We got a good juicy one. Was it what my worth is? Probably not. Was it what they wanted to offer? Definitely not!
“We met in the middle. I am a fair operator. I am breaking my own records.”
UFC 329 will mark the first of two remaining fights on McGregor’s contract, after the length of his deal was not extended.
With Netflix recently entering the MMA space and talk of a BKFC debut continuing, the Irish star could have more than just a UFC extension as an option for his future in 2027.
