Conor McGregor is making it clear he will not step back into the Octagon until the UFC meets one specific demand.

Since breaking his leg in the trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021, ‘The Notorious’ has not returned to the Octagon.

This year, though, is shaping up to be the one when we finally see him return, with fans eager to watch him compete again after such a long time away.

Still, a potential obstacle could prevent McGregor’s desired fight at the White House on June 14 from happening.

McGregor and Dana White have worked together for a long time, and it has been a productive relationship.

They have made a lot of money and set records, but now the Irishman wants to go beyond White to discuss his return fight.

‘The Notorious’ is looking to speak with Ari Emanuel, CEO and Executive Chairman of TKO Group Holdings, which owns the UFC and WWE after their 2023 merger.

McGregor made his request in response to a post about Emanuel’s upcoming memoir ‘Roll the Calls’, although he later deleted it.

“That’s a must read!” McGregor wrote on X.

He followed up with: “I won’t come back until me and Ari chat.”

Conor McGregor needs a new UFC deal

McGregor recently suggested that his contract with the UFC became void after the organisation secured a $7.7 billion broadcast agreement with Paramount.

The end of pay-per-view in the United States means he now needs to work out new terms.

Speaking on a live stream, the Irishman said: “I’m warming up now for the White House fight. I’m gonna be at it, for sure. It’s gonna be insane, the White House card is gonna be.

“I’m going into negotiations with the Ultimate Fighting Championship in February. I’m very interested to go. They’ve actually got a new deal with Paramount, it’s worth $7.7 billion. So the company has 4xed its profit.”

McGregor also explained: “My contract, essentially, is void right now because there’s no more PPV, whereas my contract was based on PPV sales. I’m the highest-generating PPV fighter of all time. The PPV system is done. I’m due a new contract.

“So, we’re going into negotiations in February, and I’m very interested to see how it goes.”
