A pub owned by UFC superstar Conor McGregor was petrol bombed overnight, according to information provided by The Sun.

The report notes that McGregor splashed £2m of his fight earnings on the pub, named the Black Forge Inn, which is situated in Crumlin, Dublin.

He has frequently shared photos of him and his family paying visits to the pub.

The Irishman will have been understandably concerned to learn that there was an attempt of criminal damage at the premises overnight, which has resulted in the Garda launching a full-scale investigation.

As per the report, the authorities responded to reports that two pipe bombs had been left at the pub.

Whether any pipe bombs were discovered upon arrival remains unconfirmed.

The Garda have, however, revealed that there was an attempt to damage the property with two petrol bombs, which were thrown at McGregor’s pub overnight.

Thankfully, there was no significant damage reported and nobody was harmed, but you can’t help but wonder what the worst could have been, should the offenders have achieved what they set out to do.

The motivation for the attack remains unclear at this point in time, but it’s safe to say that McGregor has ruffled a fair few feathers in recent years.

It goes without saying, though, that any offence caused by McGregor is no justification for putting people’s lives and livelihoods at risk.

We can only hope that the investigation results in the identification of those who attempted to incinerate McGregor’s pub.
