Dan Hooker has reignited old tensions in the UFC world after narrating a wild Conor McGregor story that, in his view, completely undermines Paddy Pimblett’s public image.
The lightweight contender did not hold back when explaining why he has little sympathy for Pimblett, accusing him of talking tough and then retreating when confronted.
The comments have quickly gained traction online, not just because McGregor’s name is involved, but because they cut directly against the “everyman” persona Pimblett has built with fans.
Speaking ahead of UFC 325, Hooker explained why he takes issue with Pimblett’s behaviour, claiming the Liverpudlian fighter talks recklessly and then shifts blame when things escalate.
“You know why I don’t like this guy? He talks, talks, talks, and then he gets caught on his s___ and turns into victim. He goes into victim mode straight away. Is there common knowledge that he talk s___ about Conor McGregor?” Hooker said.
Hooker suggested that Pimblett’s outspoken nature is well known within MMA circles, but that the confidence quickly disappears when confronted by someone willing to back it up.
In his telling, the contrast between words and actions is impossible to ignore.
Hooker then detailed a story involving McGregor that he believes perfectly sums up Pimblett’s mentality.
“And then Conor McGregor drove around to his house, and he sat outside in his car, calling the bloke, and Paddy refused to come outside, and that tells you all you need to know about a guy,” Hooker revealed.
The anecdote has stunned fans, largely because of the image it paints. McGregor, known for confronting rivals directly, allegedly showed up in person, while Pimblett chose not to engage at all.
For Hooker, that moment stripped away any notion of Pimblett as a fearless underdog. Whether fans agree or not, the story has added fuel to an already heated debate about authenticity, bravado, and accountability in modern MMA.
