Jon Jones was set to defend his heavyweight title for the first time at UFC 295 against arguable heavyweight G.O.A.T. and former champion Stipe Miocic. In the lead-up to the fight, Jones tore his pectoral tendon while wrestling in practice and the lengthy recovery has put a hold on the heavyweight division.

When and who will Jon Jones fight?

It’s still unclear when Jon Jones will defend his new belt for the first time, but Dana White has confirmed that the fight will be rebooked for sometime in 2024. As for an opponent, Jon Jones has made it clear several times that Stipe Miocic is the one opponent he wants to face for his title. Dana White confirmed that Jones’ wishes would be granted, seeing it as the only fight that makes sense for Jones at this point.

When given the proposition, Stipe Miocic has also been vocal about accepting the challenge and stepping up as the man to potentially dethrone Jones and regain the title for his own legacy. At the end of the day, this really is a legacy fight for both men and in terms of getting one more in before either of them hang the gloves up, this would be the perfect way to go out for either fighter.

When asked about Jones’ future opponent, White confirmed “It’s Stipe…[Jones] knows he’s fighting Stipe.”

Where will Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic take place?

An official location still has yet to be determined for this upcoming bout but with their first fight previously scheduled for Jones’ hometown of New York City, there’s strong indication that the Big Apple will remain the destination for Jon Jones to potential put a cap on his fighting career. When asked about the location, Dana White subtly confirmed with his iconic grin and a “sounds right.”

With that, we should be expecting Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic to take place in New York City sometime later in 2024. As for now, the UFC looks towards its next massive Pay-Per-View featuring Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler at UFC 303. Be sure to follow our UFC page for fight announcements and breaking content!
