The Octagon will be placed directly on the South Lawn, framed by an arch to support lighting rigs. Seating will be limited to roughly 5,000 attendees, with camera angles designed to showcase the White House in the background from one side and the Washington Monument from the other.

“We don’t know how much the lawn can hold,” White admitted, noting that the UFC’s regulation octagon weighs 15,000 pounds. “We’re still working it out.”

A Washington, D.C. Takeover

The White House fights are set to be the centerpiece of a week-long UFC takeover of the nation’s capital:

• Viewing area at the Ellipse: Up to 85,000 fans will gather in the adjacent park to watch on massive outdoor screens.

• Music & entertainment: A stage will feature live bands throughout fight day, with fans encouraged to bring blankets and camp out for the spectacle.

• Ceremonial weigh-ins: Planned at the Lincoln Memorial, offering a dramatic and historic backdrop.

• Fan expo: A multi-day fan experience in Washington, D.C., to showcase UFC athletes and the sport’s history.

“I love one-of-one type events like we did at the Sphere last year for UFC Noche,” White said. “This is a one-of-one incredible opportunity not only for the fans, for the sport, but for the fighters.”

McGregor Eyes a Comeback

While no fights have been confirmed for the card, White promised it will be the “best card we’ve ever built.” Among the star names campaigning to compete is Conor McGregor, who hasn’t fought since 2021.

“Conor and I have been talking consistently,” White revealed. “He wants this fight bad. When you get to a level that Conor is at, you’ve got to find things in life that motivate you. The White House card has definitely motivated Conor McGregor.”

A One-of-One Experience

For White, the symbolism of pairing the UFC with America’s semiquincentennial anniversary is about more than just fights it’s about creating a moment in history.

“No matter what side you’re on, come hang in Washington, D.C., for the week,” White said. “Take your family around. Take in all the history. And then, whether you get into the fight or you go over to the Ellipse, it’s going to be a special night.”
