Dana White: UFC Fight Island will open July 11

UFC boss Dana White still isn't saying where Fight Island is located, but he has announced when the venue will host its first mixed martial arts event.

While speaking with TMZ ahead of Saturday's UFC 250 card headlined by featherweight champion Amanda Nunes defending her belt against Felicia Spencer, White explained Fight Island will be open for business on July 11.

"The fantasy of Fight Island, I'm very worried it will eclipse the reality of Fight Island," White said while joking that he won't be sitting on a throne overlooking a cage that is placed on a sandy beach for weekend shows.

He did, however, say there will be an octagon outside on a beach.

White added the island features an arena and areas where fighters can train while maintaining social-distancing practices during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

White was seen drinking from a "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" coffee mug during the video conference call with TMZ. Oliver recently joked that Fight Island should be nicknamed "UF-SEA" during an episode for his show, which led to the promotion filing for multiple "UFSEA" trademarks in late May.
