‘DC’ wouldn’t turn down the idea of a return as long as he wasn’t booked against one opponent.

As evident by their recent back and forth comments, the rivalry between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier hasn’t gone anywhere.

The two men have paid each other compliments in the past after sharing the Octagon on two occasions with the UFC light heavyweight title on the line.

That doesn’t mean that they’ve put the past behind them, with Jones recently claiming he’d accepted a trilogy with Cormier that would take place in a grappling ruleset for charity.

‘DC’ recently named his greatest rival as someone he’d be open to facing in a promotion that has recently featured several former and current UFC stars.

Daniel Cormier would be down to wrestle again as long as it’s not against Yoel Romero

In a recent interview with his former teammate Josh Thomson, Daniel Cormier was asked about competing in Real American Freestyle.

RAF has recently given fighters who made their names in the UFC the opportunity to return to their wrestling roots in special attraction matchups.

The likes of Michael Chandler have emerged victorious in recent events, while Colby Covington is set to face Luke Rockhold on January 10.

“I’d wrestle the right guy,” Cormier replied when the conversation turned to whether he’d make an appearance in RAF. “I’d wrestle Jon Jones.”

Thomson responded by throwing out a different name, Yoel Romero, who left fans stunned with his dominant win over Pat Downey at RAF 4 this month.

“No,” Cormier immediately answered. “I’m not wrestling Yoel Romero, bro. I wouldn’t wrestle Yoel. He’s still good, man! He’s like insanely good. I’m not wrestling with him. I’d wrestle like a Jon Jones or somebody.”

Daniel Cormier predicts Yoel Romero’s upcoming clash with Bo Nickal

Yoel Romero is set to face Bo Nickal on the same night that Colby Covington takes on Luke Rockhold at RAF 5 on January 10.

While Daniel Cormier believes that it will be very hard for Rockhold to have success against Covington, he believes the other marquee matchup will be closer.

“I don’t think that Yoel’s going to beat him because Bo just wrestled and he’s young, but boy, Yoel Romero is going to make it hard for him, especially after what I saw the other day,” Cormier said.

‘DC’ went on to tell a story about Romero, pointing out that he’s always been known as an absolute nightmare ever since he first came on the wrestling scene.

“The thing about Yoel Romero is I was on the scene when he was,” Cormier recalled. “I was wrestling for the United States team when he was wrestling for Cuba. He was always a freak, now he’s like unbelievable… I think Bo will edge him out because just think that he’s a little younger and at some point that has to matter.”
