ESPN's Brett Okamoto reported on Tuesday that the UFC is finalizing a middleweight contest between Darren Till (18-3-1) and Marvin Vettori (16-4-1) to serve as the five-round main event of a UFC Fight Night show on April 10.
Okamoto added that verbal agreements are in place, but no contract for the bout had been signed as of early Tuesday afternoon. It's unknown if this Fight Night card will occur at the Fight Island site on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, the UFC Apex in Las Vegas or a different location.
Till fell to Tyron Woodley, Jorge Masvidal and, most recently, Robert Whittaker in three of his last four bouts and is 1-1 since making the move from welterweight to middleweight. The 28-year-old is currently No. 4 in the official UFC rankings for the division.
Vettori rose to No. 5 in the rankings in 2020 and has won four consecutive bouts in the octagon. He submitted Karl Roberson in the first round in June and then toppled Jack Hermansson via unanimous decision in early December. The 27-year-old last lost to middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in April 2018.
