After attempting to help make ‘Death Sentence’ one of the most dangerous Street Fighters, Demetrious Johnson got to the end of his tether.
Streetbeefs has become wildly popular among the MMA fanbase because of the nostalgia of watching the likes of Kimbo Slice and Jorge Masvidal fight in backyards.
And one of the biggest stars in the street fighting promotion is none other than Death Sentence – real name Maraji Johnson – who has become a viral sensation on social media because of his involvement in Streetbeefs.
Death Sentence was having a torrid time in the backyard and he lost four fights in a row before he called on the help of one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time, Demetrious Johnson.
After spending some time with the former UFC flyweight champion, Death Sentence went on to snap his losing streak with an emotional win with ‘Mightymouse’ in his corner.
And following that, the viral sensation got a little bit ahead of himself and called out the consensus greatest of all time, Jon Jones.
However, he was quickly brought back down to earth as in his next fight after breaking his losing streak, he was knocked out cold.
After suffering another loss, Death Sentence once again sought out the help of Johnson, and ‘Mightymouse’ obliged and agreed to train him again.
But whilst attempting to train him and fellow viral Streetbeefs fighter Winged C for their next Streetbeefs outings, Johnson completely lost his patience with Death Sentence and launched a passionate rant at him.
“Shut the f— up! Shut up. The show is over, the clown show is over, do you want to get f—— good or keep going on with this circus act? You tell me, because I don’t want to waste my f—— time with this clown show s—,” Johnson began.
“You guys don’t want to get f—— good and keep playing around, I’m very passionate about fighting, I’m very passionate about getting people better but I’m not passionate about doing it to try and get clips and s—… You guys live in a different generation than I do,” Johnson said as he visibly got emotional.
Streetbeefs is almost exactly what it says on the tin. It is a backyard street fighting promotion that allows amateur fighters to participate in full MMA fights.
As seen historically, starting off in street fighting can actually be a popular base to go on to become a star in MMA, although it is unlikely Death Sentence will reach the heights Kimbo and Masvidal reached from their backgrounds in the sport.
