No matter the outcome, Dillon Danis seemed destined for trouble on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.

The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and Misfits MMA champion has been handed a lifetime ban from UFC events by Dana White after being attacked by several members of Islam Makhachev’s team. The incident followed weeks of online antagonism towards the two-weight champion.

Even if Danis had managed to steer clear of Makhachev’s camp, it turns out he was not in the clear. After trading barbs online, Jorge Masvidal revealed he intended to confront the 32-year-old in person but arrived after things had already escalated.

Danis is not a popular figure among MMA fighters, a fact well-known to fans of the sport. He frequently mocks rivals on social media, and he notably spent part of fight week in a public back-and-forth with Masvidal.

Speaking on his podcast Death Row MMA, the former BMF champion fighter explained: “We’re not going to mention this f—er’s name, but he did get his a– beat by the Muslim brotherhood, who stole it from me because I was literally on my way to whoop this motherf—er’s a–.

“He sent me a couple messages and I was like ‘alright cool, keep sending me these messages, brother, we’re going to have to see each other’. Bo [Nickal] gets that knockout and they show the replay and guess who’s there?

“So I told the UFC immediately ‘this fan experience is over, I want to go to my seat please. I start walking over to my seat from the VIP room and I run into ‘Chanco’ [Magomed Zaynukov] and I’m like ‘what’s up man’ because police are all over him.”

Masvidal then added: “I go ‘what happened brother?’ and I see his hands are bloody so I’m like ‘nah, look at your hands, what happened your hands?’ He goes ‘oh no, all good bro, little problem I took care of it. I said ‘okay, alright, alright.

“So UFC starts running at me telling me ‘you stay right here, don’t move, what just happened, what did you get into?’ They’re grabbing me and holding me, I’m like ‘bro I just got here, I wish I could have got into something’.

“By the time I got out to the main event all the good fun was taken already, Dillon Danis had already got f—ing mopped up, kicked in the f—ing face. They made him eat s—, made him lick the floor, then they kicked his a– out and banned him. Sucks for you p—-.”

Dana White knew of Jorge Masvidal’s interest in Dillon Danis crowd fight

Dana White will not be surprised by Masvidal’s wish to start something with Danis. The UFC president was already aware of the tension between them before it became public.

“I blame myself for that, actually. They came back and told me right before I walked out for the main card that Dillon Danis was here and he was moving around, sitting in fighters’ seats and not sitting in his own seat that he had, he had a ticket,” he began by saying in his post UFC 322 press conference.

“They said, ‘Do you want us to throw him out of here?’ And I said, ‘He has a ticket?’ They told me, ‘[Jorge] Masvidal said he’s gonna f— him up on sight.’ I said, ‘Well, where is Masvidal sitting?’ He’s sitting six or seven rows away from Masvidal.

“I said, ‘If the guy has a ticket, let him sit in his seat, let him keep doing what he’s doing and keep an eye on him.’ It never even crossed my mind, as stupid as this could be, that the entire Muslim Brotherhood was here tonight in the first five rows for Islam.”
