Outspoken MMA star-turned boxer Dillon Danis is quite confident his brief combat career has brought him more money than one of the greatest fighters of all time.
Adding a mixed martial arts title to his trophy cabinet earlier this summer, long-time Conor McGregor ally Dillon Danis submitted Warren Spencer with an early guillotine choke to win the MisFits light heavyweight crown.
And expected to make a continued run with the promotion, Danis was involved in the initial GFL startup — tied to a main event showdown with former interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson.
However, despite his lengthy time away from competition, Danis believes his brief time in the sport outweighs a flyweight legend’s — at least financially.
Competing four times in professional combat sports, Danis has so far amassed an impressive 3-0 record in mixed martial arts in particular.
The former Bellator MMA prospect would also feature in a reportedly lucrative grudge match against the polarizing Logan Paul back in 2023, suffering a disqualification defeat in his professional boxing debut.
However, according to Danis, his part in lucrative fights has likely garnered him a higher financial payout when compared with Demetrious Johnson, despite his multi-year reign as the UFC flyweight kingpin.
“Right now, I’m making more money than you (Demetrious Johnson) probably made in all your title fights, no offense,” Danis said on the Mighty YouTube channel. “When you fight and you have a name that I have and the eyes that I bring, DAZN pays very well.”
Both poking fun at the UFC, Danis claimed he would likely make significantly less if he were to enter the Octagon, while Johnson revealed that was one of the reasons for his infamous departure from the promotion back in 2018.
Front and center for arguably the biggest feud in Octagon history, Danis featured in the corner of McGregor for his infamous UFC 229 title fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov.
And involved in a post-fight melee, Danis claimed he was punched no less than seven times by incoming UFC 322 headliner Islam Makhachev.
For that, the outspoken grappler has no qualms about settling his differences with the welterweight mover in the cage in the future.
“Give me Islam (Makhachev) — he jumped out of the cage and punched me in the head seven times,” Danis explained. “Khabib (Nurmagomedov) jumped out of the cage. Let me get my revenge. I never sued the UFC for that. I could sue it for millions.”
